Event Description:

Wind Down with Wine and Music

Make that end of the week wine extra special! Join the D&H Canal Historical Society for a virtual wine tasting featuring Kevin Zraly, the Father of American Wine Education and renowned author of the best selling wine book in the world, Windows on the World: Complete Wine Course. You and your friends can become ‘one hour wine experts’ while savoring a flight of four wines from the comfort of home. The hour will close with music by the Hudson Valley's famed duo Jay Ungar & Molly Mason, who will perform a traditional drinking song, and the haunting "Ashokan Farewell", which became nationally beloved as the theme song of Ken Burns' Civil War series.

What You Get: Included in the price, participants will be sent 4 bottles of wine, made from two of the most popular white grapes and two of the most popular red grapes in the world: Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. We invite you to pair the selection with your favorite cheese or sumptuous hor d'oeuvres. Kevin suggests that participants have a good cheese, such as gouda, cheddar or parmesan, and crackers to nibble on while they taste the wines. Invite your friends to share the bounty and host a socially distanced wine tasting!

Wine will be delivered a few days prior to the event (no P.O. boxes!). One registration can be used for your whole party. Additionally, $50 of the ticket price is tax deductible.

Pay by Mail: If you prefer to pay by check, please mail it to P.O. Box 23, High Falls, NY 12440. Indicate in the memo it is for the wine tasting and include the mailing address where you would like the wines to be shipped. Contact us at info@canalmuseum.org or 845-687-2000 with questions!

Our Venerable Host: Kevin Zraly, winner of the 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award from the James Beard Foundation, got his start at the DePuy Canal House restaurant in High Falls. This esteemed New York Times rated 4 star restaurant owned and operated by John Novi, will be the new home of the Mid-Hudson Visitor Center and D&H Canal Museum.

For an additional $50, you will receive a signed copy of the newest edition of Zraly’s book, Windows on the World: Complete Wine Course. Include the personalized message you’d like in the book in the notes section when you register.
