Have you heard? Hudson Valley Hospice is starting an End-of-Life Doula program and you can be a part of it! Just as a birth doula brings greater comfort and meaning to the process of labor and delivery, our end-of-life (EOL) Doulas will offer the same for the process of dying.
This innovative program helps people:
• Explore and preserve the stories, wisdom and messages that give life meaning.
• Plan for what they want to see, hear, and feel around them in the last days.
• Create and use guided visualization and ritual for comfort and meaning.
• Give loved ones the rest they so badly need from the demands of caregiving.
• Understand the dying process and offer round the clock support.
• Insure that the person doesn’t die alone and that the final breaths aren’t missed.
• Offer support after the death as loved ones begin their grief process.
Hudson Valley Hospice EOL Doula volunteers will receive thorough training in understanding the dying process and in the skills that can help bring peace and comfort to all involved. Please join us for one of the free information sessions offered on Thursday, January 12th in our Kingston and Poughkeepsie offices.
After hearing about the program, you can decide if you would like to take the training, which will be held in early March. There is no obligation and the information session and training are offered free of charge.
To register for the information session in Poughkeepsie at 6:00 pm, please call 845-473-2273, ext. 1124.
To register for the information session in Kingston at 3:00 pm, please call 338-5397, ext.2207.
