Meet NYS Senate Candidates @Ulster Chamber Breakfast

The Ulster County Regional Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Meet the Candidates breakfast featuring all eight local candidates for the New York State Senate. Ulster County is unique in that it includes parts of four districts in the state Senate. The breakfast is scheduled for October 17th, from 7:30-9:00 a.m. at the Best Western Plus in Kingston.
Chamber President Ward Todd said the format for the breakfast would be the same as past years with opening statements from each candidate, questions from the audience and then closing remarks. The League of Women Voters of the Mid-Hudson Region will facilitate the event.
The following candidates are expected to appear:
46th Senate District - First-term incumbent Sen. George Amedore, R-Rotterdam, faces a challenge from Democrat Pat Strong of Kingston in this contest. The 46th Senate District includes the city of Kingston and towns of Esopus, Hurley, Kingston, Lloyd, Marbletown, Saugerties, Ulster and Woodstock in Ulster County.
39th Senate District - With the retirement of longtime incumbent Sen. William Larkin, R-Cornwall, this race pits Stony Point Councilman Tom Basile, a Republican, against Democratic Assemblyman James Skoufis of Woodbury. The 39th Senate District, which encompasses mostly Orange and Rockland counties, includes the towns of Plattekill and Marlborough in Ulster County.
42nd Senate District - This seat is open as well with the retirement of longtime incumbent Sen. John Bonacic, R-Mount Hope. Running to succeed Bonacic are Rosendale town councilwoman Jen Metzger, a Democrat, and Orange County Clerk Ann Rabbit, a Republican. The 42nd Senate District includes the towns of Denning, Gardiner, New Paltz, Rosendale, Shawangunk and Wawarsing in Ulster County.
51st Senate District - Longtime incumbent Sen. James Seward, R-Oneonta, faces Democratic challenger Joyce St. George of New Kingston. The 51st Senate District Seward represents includes the Ulster County towns of Rochester, Olive, Shandaken and Hardenburgh.
